Pearly Cow Adds Sunday Roasts Across All Three Sites…

Pearly Cow, the independent grill restaurant group run by brothers Tristan, James and Tom Guest, is adding Sunday roasts across all three of its sites this autumn, the brand's first season offering one. The three restaurants have built their name on quality cuts of meat and whatever's freshest off the boat that morning, so a roast is a fairly natural next step rather than a stretch into unfamiliar territory.

It's also a genuinely different kind of spread across the three sites, geographically. York gets the landlocked version, properly carnivorous, built around the beef and the Wellington. Margate and Brighton, both coastal, add fish of the day to the same core menu, which means the same Sunday lunch reads quite differently depending on which of the three you're sitting in.

The roast menu itself: roast sirloin of beef, corn-fed roast chicken, a butternut and wild mushroom Wellington for anyone not eating meat, and that fish of the day at the two coastal sites. Three courses, with a wine list built around Chapel Down's house sparkling, the Kent producer's own fizz, alongside whatever else the by-the-glass list is running that week.

Three cities, one family, one new addition to an existing menu rather than a full relaunch, worth knowing if you're already near York, Margate or Brighton on a Sunday and didn't know roast was now on offer.

We haven't made it to any of the three yet, but three brothers rolling out a brand new Sunday roast across every restaurant they own is exactly the kind of thing we want to go and find out about properly. If you get there before we do, we'd love to know how it was, and if it's half as good as it sounds, don't be surprised to see one of them earn a proper spot on the Sunday Roast Shortlist.
